Mindfulness Meditation |
My specialties and areas of interest include
working with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, life transitions, women’s and men’s issues, and multicultural issues.
My approach is integrative and holistic, based in
cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal approaches and infused
with mindfulness, an awareness of direct experience in the here and now
which allows us to cultivate compassion and wisdom.
More specifically, I facilitate exploration of the
interplay between core feelings, physical sensations, and thoughts,
helping clients draw strength from and make peace with this
vital inner wisdom. Appreciation of our internal experience
leads to greater clarity, a cultivation of more thoughtful action in the world,
and subsequently, more satisfying decisions and outcomes. As
we link our personal history to our current lives, we gain
a deeper understanding of ourselves and we become free
to change patterns of behavior that are no longer working.
This process allows us to be fully present with those we
care about, and to enrich our relationships through
authenticity.
My previous clinical experience includes 5 years working in the
Fairfax County community mental health system with a diverse
population of clients, in regard to level of acculturation, age
range, severity of distress, ethnicity, and sexual orientation.
