Psychological Assessment

Psychological evaluations are diagnostic assessments conducted by doctoral-level licensed psychologists who compile their findings in a written report. Psychological evaluations are tailored to address specific questions about a client's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral or personality functioning. In some cases, a comprehensive psychological evaluation is requested for clients who present with long-standing or difficult-to-treat mental illness in order to provide the referring clinician greater insight into the complexities of particular dynamics, or to serve as 'second opinion' with regard to treatment planning.

Psychological evaluations can be particularly helpful in assisting parents; schools and child-therapists determine a particular child's academic aptitudes and achievement as well as assist in identifying underlying issues the child may not be able to verbalize.
